Frequently Asked Questions

A backorder is a reservation placed on a domain that is currently registered by someone else but approaching expiration. If the domain drops (becomes available), we attempt to register it for you automatically.
Payment is deducted as an Account Balance hold when you place the backorder. If the registration attempt fails or you cancel, the hold is refunded to your Account Balance. Note: domains that drop between 2–4 PM EST are subject to a nonrefundable surge pricing charge due to high competition during peak drop windows.
Success depends on the domain's drop timing and competition. Our system monitors expiring domains and attempts registration at the earliest opportunity.
Yes. You can cancel a pending backorder at any time and your Account Balance hold will be refunded.
Yes. Domainer Club members get priority queue placement, promotional pricing on backorders, and can use overdraft up to -$500 on their Account Balance — no need to preload funds.
