After more than two years of preparation, ICANN TLD applications have been filed. During ICANN's 2026 new gTLD application window, we have submitted five top-level domains:
We will continue to work through the application process on behalf of these partners and support their intentions to launch the TLD on DNS infrastructure.
What each application represents
What happens next
Filing is the start of a long road, not the end of one:
Five partner TLDs are not proceeding
The following TLDs are not proceeding with ICANN applications:
In each case, the brand partner behind the TLD decided not to move forward with an ICANN application and instead chose to focus on Web3 only. You can choose to keep your Web3 domain, or return the domain for a refund. Domains ending .ANIME domains are eligible for a refund if purchased on or after June 5th, 2024. See how to claim a refund below.
Nine Unstoppable TLDs are not proceeding
The following TLDs are not proceeding with ICANN applications:
ICANN’s planned integration rules would require every name in an integrated namespace to be registered in the DNS and paid for, and for registrants to disclose their data. For us, that means 4M+ existing Web3 names, including people who bought a name years ago purely for on-chain use and never asked to be in the DNS. We aren’t willing to force that on our users, or bill them for it.
Purchase date requirements for refunds
We're refunding customers who purchased domains on these TLDs on or after the date we publicly announced our intent to apply to ICANN.
For .CRYPTO, .WALLET, .POLYGON, .NFT, .BITCOIN, .DAO, .UNSTOPPABLE, and .ZIL, we announced our ICANN gTLD intent on March 5th, 2025, so purchases made on or after March 5th, 2025 are eligible for a refund.
For .BLOCKCHAIN, we announced our ICANN gTLD intent earlier, on June 5th, 2024, so purchases made on or after June 5th, 2024 are eligible for a refund.
You can find the dates of your orders by logging in and navigating to your orders page.
