The Company

Unstoppable Domains is a profitable, hypergrowth company that is onboarding the world onto the decentralized web (Web3) by building NFT domain names on the blockchain. 

These domains allow users to replace cryptocurrency addresses with human-readable names, host decentralized websites, simplify crypto payments, and much more. The company just launched a “Login with Unstoppable” product as well, and has plans to build a portfolio of products for consumer identity, reputation, and rewards.  

They recently raised a Series A led by Draper Associates and Boost VC, and has received checks from Naval Ravikant, Coinbase Ventures, Balaji Srinivasan and Meltem Demirors.

The Role 

Reporting directly to the CEO/Founder, the VP of Engineering will lead all strategy and execution of ecommerce technology at Unstoppable Domains. This leader will have a keen commercial understanding  of technology and must be a passionate technology leader who can contribute to and accelerate the company’s growth. 

The successful candidate will have a strong product orientation and customer mindset to deliver a great  customer experience across a broad customer base. S/he should have an innate understanding of  technology and how to use it to provide competitive advantage that translates into building outstanding  customer experience. The successful candidate will work across teams to align tech strategy to product strategy with a holistic roadmap. This leader must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy, low ego environment.  

The Vice President, Engineering will partner closely with the rest of the leadership team including  marketing and operations team to present a cohesive technology strategy and roadmap. S/he will think  outside the box. The ideal candidate will be a direct, pragmatic communicator and possess the personal  charisma to generate excitement about a new initiative within an existing company. The ideal candidate will be an inspirational leader who will continue to establish a strong culture of technology excellence  and exceptional customer experience within Unstoppable Domains.  

S/he will develop objectives and drive overall technology strategy which takes into consideration 

business objectives, product strategy, competitive landscape, customer needs, and budget constraints. S/he should have successfully navigated buy vs. build decisions for critical business systems that support direct to consumer models. S/he must be data oriented and take an analytical approach to solving complex business problems by guiding the team to measure appropriately.  

The Vice President, Engineering must be a talent magnet and will ensure that Unstoppable Domains has the proper talent and processes in place to support the company’s short-term and strategic goals. The company is growing at 2-4 engineers per month, and recruiting will be a major priority for the foreseeable future. Ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance is required. S/he will be widely viewed as  a strong developer of others.   

Additional Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Stabilize and optimize the current technology platform including risk management, maintenance, and upgrades. 
  • Responsible for architecting and evolving the tech stack, scaling solutions, team and processes as needed. 
  • Manage the organization and division of the ecommerce engineering team into analytics, user experience, search, reliability, post-checkout managed flows, and admin panel teams.
  • Manage an agile product development process. 
  • Research, manage and implement product enhancements to ensure cutting edge technology resulting in maximum ecommerce revenue. 

Candidate Profile  

The successful candidate is a world-class technology leader with exceptional technical skills, influencing skills and strong business acumen.  This person must be able to prioritize, execute, and adapt to changing business requirements as necessary.  The Vice President, Engineering will lead by example, have fun and help continue to make Unstoppable Domains a great place to work. S/he must be ready to “dig in” with a can-do attitude to quickly solve problems and create constructive solutions. 

Ideal candidates will have an industry pedigree in ecommerce or a consumer-facing industry.  

Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of consumer and digital technology trends and how they are evolving to meet ever-changing consumer demands.   

 

Education, Experience, & Technical Skills 

  •  Deep knowledge and experience of ecommerce software a plus 
  •  Relationships with Magento state-of-the-art shops a plus 
  •  ERP systems implementation experience 
  •  Ecommerce, email service provider and user interface evolutions experience 
  •  System implementation; project management experience 
  •  Proven record of leading teams of developers, architects, project managers 
  •  Excellent leadership and communication abilities 
  •  Exceptional work ethic and entrepreneurial/collaborative spirit 
  •  Superior organizational and time management skills 
  •  Ability to manage and thrive in fast-paced environment 
  •  MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
